Silentstar [/b] Silentstar nodded to Hollowbranch, and meowed,"Very well. we will depart in two nights. Leave three pieces of prey out from the fresh-kill pile right now, away from the camp so they don't smell, but somewhere in direct sunlight. Also, leave them on something we can slide on easily, so in two days, we won't have to touch the carcasses."

Woodstripes Woodstripes started to stir in her nest. She was starting to wake up, but slowly. She felt as if her throat was on fire. With a groan, she blinked open her violet eyes.
The first thing she saw was Badgerface's pretty white fur.
"Hi Badgerface," she croaked. "Am I back in camp? I had the strangest dream, you were a StarClan warrior, protecting me." She burrowed her head into his fur, and purred as best as she could with her healing throat. "Thank you for looking after me when FrostClan attacked me. That was really brave. I should learn to appreciate your presence more..." she trailed off, tired.

Badgerface Badgerface gasped when he heard Woodstripes speak. "There's no need to thank. I was only protecting...my mate..." He trailed off as she fell into a sleep. She'll wake up in a few hours. Badgerface got up to help Stormleaf with the herbs. He had to do something for his clan, but he couldn't be so far as two fox-lengths away from Woodstripes.

Stormleaf
Stormleaf let out a sigh of relief as Woodstripes finally spoke. He had been restless ever since he had first seen Woodstripes injury, and was glad to know that she was alright. The golden tom picked up a leaf filled with poppy seeds, then dropped it beside Badgerface. "Here," he whispered groggily, "give two seeds to her after she awakens, if she is in any pain." Stormleaf limped over to his nest, stretched awkwardly, then laid down, his eyes closing in a deep sleep.

Badgerface Badgerface padded at the seeds and took them over to Woodstripes. He would do anything now to protect her. That Spottedwing...she's going to pay for that. He thought to himself. He bent down his head and started to lick Woodstripes pelt. It's been a whole day, waiting for a sign, she spoke, but she went back to sleep. Maybe he hoped for a sign from StarClan? Yeah right. What do they want with an ordinary warrior like me? I'm no medicine cat! Badgerface laid his head down on Woodstripes paws for the numerous time and slept. Dreams filled his mind. Some wonderful others scary. And a mysterious cat entered his dream. Iwonder who it was? He thought when he woke.

Woodstripes [/b] Woodstripes blinked open her eyes, and stretched. She felt Badgerface's body close to hers, and started to purr. In her sleep, she had thought over a lot of decisions she would have to make. She was sure of the one she wished to speak to Badgerface about.
"Badgerface?" She meowed, hoping he was awake. "I'd like to talk to you about something." She straightened up, wincing from her fresh wounds. "I've noticed you've grown fond of me lately. Well, I've grown fond of you as well." Her purple eyes shined as she continued. "I'd like us to be closer then friends. I'd like to be mates."

Badgerface Those words. "I'd like to talk to you about something." Rang in his ears. Oh no! She hates me now! He thought. He heart ran faster and faster. He thought it would jump out of his chest. "I've noticed you've grown fond of me lately..." He heard her say. She's going to tell me to get lost! While squirming in his spot her forced himself to listen to her. "Well, I've grown fond of you as well. I'd like us to be closer then friends. I'd like to be mates." He sat there. Staring into her wide purple eyes. He gasped. Mates? Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! He stammered, "Yes. Yes I would too." He closed his eyes and purred deeply as he rubbed his muzzle against hers. "Are you in pain?" He fretted. He sniffed her everywhere, all of the sudden becoming her mental and physical protector. "Where does it hurt? Can I help? Want a poppy seed?!" He fretted over her paw and paw. He licked her ears, groomed her fur, and went to get fresh-kill for her. He loved her, and hoped it would last forever.

Woodstripes [/b] Woodstripes saw her mate's overwhelming care for her all in that instant. It nearly took her breath away. Never had a tom had so much feeling for her. She purred, knowing this wasn't some flimsy love; this was faith in one another. The mate she had always looked for.
When he returned, she purred, and meowed,"Silly Badgerface. You worry too much." He had brought back a squirrel, Woodstripes's favorite meal. She tucked in gently, chewing each bite slowly to savor the taste. She hadn't eaten in a while.
"Thanks for the squirrel," she purred. "I haven't eaten for quite some time!" Being knocked out for a while, her last meal was a couple of days ago.

/ t i g e r p e l t \ never fight for second best Tigerpelt was in a foul mood as he padded into the camp. He'd just been doing his solitary rounds of the clan borders, and had been loping along FrostClan's edge for a while when he'd scented blood --and on IvyClan's side of the border! Which idiot had let FrostClan across? There had been Woodstripes's scent all over the place, and while he appreciated the beautiful she-cat as much as the next tom, letting herself get hurt was a sign of weakness. And if there was one thing that Tigerpelt would never tolerate... Well, you get the point.
"Ridiculous!" he snarled under his breath, pacing the camp and looking for Silentstar, ready to demand why there had been a border patrol that no-one had told him about. He would've stayed up patrolling all night just to get a whiff of FrostClan's filthy pong, let along rake his claws down their moth-eaten hides! He hadn't even gotten to go to the Gathering. Although Silentstar was probably right not to choose him for that: better not have Tigerpelt there to undermine his infantile authority. The tom allowed himself a smirk. Oh yes, the three other clans would've heard more than empty posturing if he'd been at that Gathering: at the first sign of objection to his new leader, their fur would be ancient history. Not because he particularly liked Silentstar: the cat was good enough to do the job. But any hint of a threat to IvyClan's authority would be eagerly subdued by the muscled tom. As he paced the camp, the impressive muscle rippled menacingly under the tiger-striped fur that had given him his name.
Suddenly, the golden-eyed warrior caught sight of the very she-cat he'd been thinking of. And that must be Badgerface leaning over her for no apparent reason. Did she have a tic in her fur or something? Tigerpelt almost made an attempt to go over and berate the two with the same spiel he'd been composing for Silentstar, but something about Badgerface's pose stopped him. 'If Woodstripes is getting her belly rubbed, the last thing anycat needs is to get in the way when that warrior stops doing what she likes...' the tom thought, a faint snicker evident on his features. The nature of the pose amused him, but he kept silent. Once he found his leader, it would be interesting to see how long Silentstar could stay true to his name.

Hollowbranch The light of the sun entered the den. Hollowbranch felt great. The doubts she had had the night before had vanished, and she blamed it on tiredness. As she stretched, she saw that the den as almost completely empty. It must have been later than she thought. Thankfully, she only had dusk patrol. Hollowbranch padded out into the camp, heading straight for the fresh-kill pile. After she was eating she would go hunting, and maybe she would bring Badgerface along to give Woodstripes a break. The two had been inseparable, and if it where Hollowbranch, she would have asked for some peace long ago. She knew they were probably mates, but that'd didn't mean that Badgerface shouldn't be helping the clan.

Badgerface Badgerface woke to the sound of paws padding at the entrance of the medicine den, and the sound of a tongue washing fur. Woodstripes must be awake. He stretched out his back, sheathed and unsheathed his claws then took a look at the entrance. Hollowbranch was standing there. Love filled her eyes for Woodstripes, and a lesser love for Badgerface. He had taken her best friend away from her for three days, Badgerface would apologize and tell her everything. He felt like taking a walk outside the walls of the camp, and he would see if Hollowbranch would go with him.

Stormleaf
Stormleaf woke from his restless slumber with a rumpled pelt. After a quick lick at his fur to smooth it down, Stormleaf looked around. "Great StarClan," he murmured. "How long have I been asleep?" The green-eyed tom clumsily got to his feet, then limped out of the den, an odd feeling creeping up his spine. He nodded to Tigerpelt, hoping the tiger-striped warrior didn't notice his distress. Woodstripes was healed, along with the other warriors mild injuries. But why, Stormleaf asked himself, do I feel such dread?

Hollowbranch Hollowbranch peeked her head in on Woodstripes and Badgerface. "I'm glad to see you're okay, Woodstripes." she meowed quietly. She turned to Badgerface. "Would you like to come hunting with me? You need to give poor Woodstripes a chance to rest." Hollowbranch ducked her head and stepped outside. Tigerpelt, the extremely loyal tom, was pacing near Silentstar's den. She had always thought the he was weird; yet his loyalty to the clan was indispensable. "Tigerpelt!" she said loudly. "Would you like to come hunting with Badgerface and I?"

/ t i g e r p e l t \ never fight for second best "Tigerpelt!" Tigerpelt, suddenly realising that he'd been staring, snapped his gaze away from Badgerface to look at that cat who'd spoken. Ah, Hollowbranch. If he recalled correctly, hadn't she been the small apprentice? Shy? Claw your face off at a second's notice? Either way, Tigerpelt couldn't say he cared. And anyone who was willing to show their claws and not pussy-foot around (no pun intended) was going to get good marks in his book. "Would you like to come hunting with Badgerface and I?"
The thick-striped tabby nodded curtly, but inwardly something inside him twisted and awoke. Competitive spirit. Tigerpelt didn't realize that he wasn't the clan's greatest hunter, for all his obsessive training, but belief was, as they say, half the battle. And Tigerpelt never did anything by halves. "Sounds like... fun," he answered, flicking his tail as if dismissing the idea. His deep voice tended to grate if you listened to it too long: it might be called husky or gravelly, depending on the situation, though the husk wasn't applied to get a she-cat's attention. Tigerpelt had no interest in the joys of love or affection: the voice was his, and had developed out of a near-constant tendency to growl under the slightest pressure.
Hunting with a she-cat... And Badgerface. If there was one cat in all the clans who could beat Tigerpelt in terms of muscle, it was that black-and-white tom. He let loose a sharp-toothed grin at the thought of sparring with such a cat. Oh yes, that would be fun --real fun, far better than hunting with him. Tigerpelt was more wiry than bulky when compared with Badgerface, but the comparison -he had to keep reminding himself- was irrelevant. 'You're going to hunt, remember? Size: irrelevant.' Wait a second. Speaking of hunting, Silentstar was nowhere to be seen... The hard glint returned to his eyes, but only for a second. The anger began to subside: Hollowbranch hadn't mentioned him, so the leader was probably sleeping in the shade somewhere, probably with a mouse under his paw so he could pretend to be hunting. Pretending to hunt while the real warriors fed his clan. But then a real, friendly smile returned -Silentstar's ignoring of him meant nothing when he had this new way to prove himself- and he swept over to Hollowbranch, half-dipping his head to her in greeting, and treating her to a sunny grin. "So, fearless hunt-leader," he rumbled, extending the 's'-sound into a playful hiss, "will you drag the badger-boy over here, or will I?"

Hollowbranch Hollowbranch rolled her eyes at the tom. She hadn't spent a lot of time around him, and now she remembered why- he was too stuck-up for her taste. Had she realized that he was going to act like that, she may not have asked him to join the patrol. Then again, he was a fellow warrior- while she could hardly call him a friend, he was an ally. And making an enemy out of him was not a smart move. "He's coming," she replied, tipping her head to the side to show respect. "Be patient." She slowly moved forward, rambling towards camp entrance. She had told the sly tom to be patient, but her own patience was running short. How Woodstripes could stand Badgerface constantly hanging over her was beyond Hollowbranch. Badgerface was a good friend, but even her friends could get annoying at times...
