Oakpelt
Oakpelt entered the camp about an hour after Thicketheart did. He could tell by the scent of the plains about her. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a plump wood mouse. He didn't want to eat it really, he just wanted an excuse to go over an talk to Thicketheart. "Hey! Want to share this mouse with me?" He called to her. He set the mouse beside her to show that it was mostly for her. He waited with anticipation for her answer.

Thicketheart
Thicketheart turned from where she had been sitting as she heard Oakpelt call out, "Hey! Want to share this mouse with me?" "Sure," she purred, then padded over to him. She took a bite out of the plump mouse, using the time spent chewing to think. Thicketheart could tell from the nervous, anticipated sense about Oakpelt that he wanted to tell her something. She swallowed, then smiled at him. "Did you want to talk?"

Oakpelt
"Erm..yes...I suppose." He waited for Thicketheart to finish the mouse before he began a dangerous talk that could leave either two happy, or one very hurt and the other awkward. "Being with you today, I realized that you have an amazing personality. I don't care what others think of you, or how they interpret you, I don't even care about your blindness." He drew in a deep breath. "Would you like to be mates?" He exhaled. and waited...patiently...patiently...

Thicketheart
Thicketheart blinked, surprised, as Oakpelt finished speaking. "Oakpelt...." She paused. Being mates was a big commitment and she hoped Oakpelt understood that. Thicketheart had known Oakpelt all her life, and now, she realized, that she DID love him. "Of course I'll be mates with you," she purred.

Oakpelt
Each word that Thicketheart said became a cherished memory in Oakpelt's mind. "Of course I'll be mates with you," she had said. Oakpelt became dizzy and sat down right away. "Oh good!" He said astounded. He had a mate, he was a mate. And they would have lovely kits together. Whether those kits were blind or not, they would be the light of his life. "Want to take a walk through the moors?" He had asked. He knew that she would say yes, but he still waited patiently for her to get up and go with him.

Thicketheart
"I'd love to."
Thicketheart flicked her tail against Oakpelt's shoulder, then started padding towards the moor. Butterflies seemed to flutter in her stomach, giving her an exihilirated feeling, as if she was running through the plains as fast as a falcon can fly. She was still shocked that a handsome and able warrior like Oakpelt had chosen her for his mate. Her, of all she-cats. Thicketheart smiled, feeling a sense of belonging flooding her senses. It was quickly stifled as a sudden, horrific thought came into her mind. "Oakpelt, what if our kits are blind? It might run in my blood. I think I remember my mother telling me about a littermate of hers that was blind..." Thicketheart bit her lip. What if Oakpelt didn't want to have kits because of this? And, even if he did, did she want to bring kits into this world that would have to go through the suffering and loneliness that she had? Thicketheart wasn't sure. But then again, would she deny kits the life that was due to them? No; that wasn't her descision, and her heart ached for motherhood. If it was StarClans' will that her kits were blind, so be it.

Oakpelt
Oakpelt's heart sunk. Kits...blind..."Then we'll love them even more." He comforted her. In his own way of affection he stopped and wrapped his tail around hers. "Do you want to have kits? Is it what you want? It is for me." He set his head on hers. "It will be okay. Our kits will be healthy, loved and the best warriors of CloudClan. Blind or not, they will be ours." His eyes held hers. Love, care, gentleness, fierceness, courage...fear. All of these things he found in her eyes. "I love you." He stated, as if he was commenting on the weather. Simple, yet beautiful. He would love her to the ends of StarClan.

Thicketheart
Thicketheart blinked up at him, her blind gaze turning warm with affection."I love you too," she replied softly. "And I need to stop worrying." She turned then started trotting towards camp, her soft pelt brushing against Oakpelt's. They walked in comfortable silence, giving each other brief smiles and glances. Thicketheart lifted her head, letting out a sigh as the wind ruffled her fur. This is the place she wanted to be; with Oakpelt, in the best clan of the four. This was the place where she belonged.
