Unlike other clans, Cloudclan has no dens. All of the cats just sleep under the stars. In the very center of their territory is FogHill, a large hill that is always surrounded in fog. Only the clan leader, deputy, and medicine cat dare to go into the dense fog. Other warriors have tried before, but no matter what they can never get to the center. Legend says that if the fog from FogHill ever clears, StarClan will come down and rid the clans of evil. The territory is mainly hills, but there is a small grove of trees in a bit of the territory.

Jadestar Jadestar looked over the camp from where she usually slept. Her clan was small; it seemed to her that all the clans were suffering. When she had first become leader of CloudClan, she vowed to herself that she would keep her clan strong. But how? They had no apprentices, no expecting queens, no kits. How could she keep her clan strong? Training. Jadestar nodded slightly to herself. Keeping her warrior in shape would be a great idea. Keeping them in practice prepares them for battle. She looked around for her deputy, Lightningstrike, so that she could run this idea by him.

Silverbreeze [/b] Sunlight filtered through the branches that stretched over Silverbreeze. The light pierced through her eyelids. She blinked open her eyes, and looked around. With horror, she realized she had overslept! "Jadestar will have my tail for this!" she thought to herself, then ran out of her sleeping place.
She slunk around camp, trying to keep a low profile, then went to retrieve a rabbit from the fresh-kill pile. It wasn't like the silver she-cat to oversleep; usually, she was a dependable warrior. "But everyone slips up every now and again, right?" Silverbreeze meowed to herself quietly, and finished the bird off. She saw Jadestar, and ducked her head quickly.

Jadestar Jadestar watched in amusement as Silverbreeze slunk out of the warriors den and over to the fresh kill pile. If it were a warrior prone to sleeping in, Jadestar would have had her tail- but Silverbreeze was a good warrior. And she would perfect for her experiment. "Silverbreeze!" Jadestar called, hoping to not frighten her. Sliverbreeze hadn't mentored anyone, as far as Jadestar remembered, but most warriors were good mentors- especially when they were training cats that had already learned the subject at hand. All this was was excelling skill- it did not require reteaching. Or so she hoped. For moons now Jadestar had one goal- keeping CloudClan safe. She had watched kits grow to warriors, warriors retire to the elders den, and elders join StarClan. Remembering back to when she was an apprentice, she thought of Littleclaw. He was an elder, and her favorite. He always had a story for her. Those memories seemed like forever ago. As leader, Jadestar had been through a lot. How many warriors had she seen go to StarClan? How many kits haven't made it through the winter? How many battles has she seen? Jadestar didn't mind, though. In her opinion, strength was the one thing a leader must have. That, and a strong heart. A heartless leader will never succeed. Jadestar was strong and compassionate when she needed to be, hard when not. While the stars could not shine in the day, Jadestar looked up, and knew they were there.

Oakpelt Oakpelt's eyes slowly adjusted to the bright light. Coming out of the dirt place tunnel he saw Silverbreeze slinking around like she overslept. Did she? He thought to himself. Oakpelt never talked much, but hoped to have some good friends. He was going to talk to Silverbreeze but Jadestar called to her first. Oh no. Jadestar must be mad. But she's not normally like this so early in the morning. She was a fairly open morning cat. Oakpelt walked over to Silverbreeze after a little bit of chatting between the two. He wasn't listening but he had heard the word "training". Oh! I hope she does some training with me! I love it. I could train all day! He hoped.

Silverbreeze [/b] Silverbreeze sighed, knowing her punishment was coming now. She lifted her head, and stood strong. She would take the potential punishment with dignity.
"Yes, Jadestar?" Silverbreeze asked, meeting her green gaze with her amber. The silver warrior stood up, and swiveled her ears forward, awaiting her leader's reply.
Looking to the side, she was grateful her brother was present. She always felt more comfortable next to him. Oakpelt looked his happy self, always on edge and ready to run the whole length of the forest and some. She purred silently, and flicked her tail against his pelt.

Birchpaw blinked the sunlight into her sleepy eyes, absorbing the warmth happily. She was looking forward to another day of finding uses for weeds and learning of her ancestry.

Thicketheart
Thicketheart padded through camp, using her sharp hearing and touch to navigate. Her sightless eyes narrowed as she scented the air. She sensed anxiety wafting from Silverbreeze, and from Jadestar, amusement. The russet tabby snickered, then dropped to her haunches where she could hear the spectacle.

Nightleaf woke with a start. "Mouse dung! I overslept again!" she cursed. She forced herself out of her den, quickly making sure that no cats needed any medicine cat help. No one did. She sighed. "Another boring day. Mouse dung again! I wish something would happen today. Ever since that badger fever, nothing has happened...and I'm talking to myself again, aren't I?" She looked around, and because no cat had said anything, she guessed she was. She sighed again. She sauntered away to fetch herbs again, she knew in her boring life that one thing was true. She was out of juniper, yarrow, poppy, honey-water, and catmint! Where had it all gone?

Birchpaw padded back to the medicine cat den, her whiskers twitching in surprise at Nightleaf's shocked face. She followed her gaze to where the herbs should be; her face wound up the same way. "Nightleaf?..."

NIGHTLEAF
Nightleaf stared at Birchpaw. "Oh sorry for my expression, Birchpaw. I just can't seem to find some herbs that I swear I restocked yesterday..." Nightleaf trailed off with this thought, leaving Birchpaw with room for an explanation, if she had one.

Birchpaw shook her head as though clearing water out of her ears. "I'll get some more, if you want!" she said brightly.

NIGHTLEAF
Nightleaf smiled at her apprentice's joyous mood. She obviously didn't know anything about her herbs going missing. "Yes of course, Birchpaw. Come with me, and we'll find some more herbs." Nightleaf led Birchpaw outside the camp. "Tell me if you spot any honey, I need more of that." Nightleaf shouldn't have gotten her hopes up about Birchpaw knowing anything. Not all apprentices were troublemakers!

Birchpaw nodded. "Sure, Nightleaf." She put her nose in the air to scent for anything sweet, smelling just clover at the moment. She trotted towards it, watching bees busily going between flowers. There had to be some honey near here. Ow! A bee had tried to sting her but flew away quickly, startled when she moved. This'd be delightful. Oh well.

NIGHTLEAF
Nightleaf smiled at Birchpaw. Playing with the bees was such an...apprentice thing to do. Nightleaf looked up and saw that the beehive was right above Birchpaw! "Birchpaw," Nightleaf softly spoke. "Look up." She saw Birchpaw do this and saw her expression shift rapidly. Nightleaf hummed a wordless SnakeClan song as she looked for juniper and yarrow. She'd find the poppy later. Maybe Birchpaw would find it for her. Life was good for now. Silentstar might start a war, but that was the future, and this was now. And now, at this very moment, life was good.
