Seastar Seastar walked to the apprentices den. The dark green evergreen bushes were covered in a light snow. They were woven together with branches and brambles to strengthen it. "Dewpaw! Wake up sleepy head! You're not supposed to be asleep while your own mentor is awake." Seastar stifled a laugh. "Come on now. Let's go to the training grounds and I'll teach you some fighting moves. We haven't trained in a while." Seastar waited outside of the den for her apprentice. She thought of moves to show a young apprentice and just decided to go along with whatever came her way.

~Dewpaw~
Dewpaw was asleep quietly. A familiar smell seeped into her nose. With a few soft words, Dewpaw knew that her mentor, and leader, was waiting for her. "Dewpaw!" she called. "Wake up sleepy head! You're not supposed to be asleep while your mentor is awake!" Dewpaw forced her eyes open. She was right. Seastar huddled over Dewpaw, and Dewpaw yawned quietly. "Come on now. Let's go to the training grounds, and I'll teach you some fighting moves. We haven't trained in a while."
Dewpaw stretched, and sat up obediently. She looked up at her mentor urged to just run over to the training grounds. Dewpaw hopped up, and answered, "Of course, Seastar!"

Seastar Seastar nodded her head as Dewpaw came out of the den with sleepy eyes. "Alright, let's run to the grounds to wake ourselves up. Ready? Go!" Seastar took off like a shot. Out the entrance to the den and through the snowdrift filled territory of FrostClan. She slowed down so her apprentices short legs could keep up. Seastar wasn't known as one of the fastest cats around for nothing. If she put her mind to it, she would leave the poor Dewpaw in the snow powder. Once at the training grounds, she noticed it was lightly covered in snow. Wouldn't make much of a difference snow or no snow, they would train. Seastar sat down lightly and awaited her apprentices arrival. Once she did come Seastar asked her a simple question. "Which move would you like to practice and or see first?"

Dewpaw emerged from the apprentice den as she noticed Seastar. Alright, let's run to the grounds to wake ourselves up. Ready? Go!" Dewpaw watched Seastar disappear out of camp. Dewpaw rolled in the light snow to wake herself up even more, and ran after Seastar. Finally, she reached the training grounds. She looked happily at her leader, as she spoke. "Which move would you like to practice and or see first?"
Dewpaw answered quietly and politely, "I'm not sure, you can choose, Seastar."

Seastar Hmm...what to pick? What to pick? Seastar thought over a few of the moves that would be good for beginners. "Let's try the Belly Pummel. You do it like this," Seastar to a leaping start and fell on her back, but slid under Dewpaw's belly and lightly pummeled her stomach. "Think you can do that? It's quite simple, you just fall on your back after a leaping or running start then you slid under your opponent's belly and then pummel them. Please no claws on me." Seastar smiled.

After watching Seastar's demonstration, Dewpaw decided to try. She moved back a little bit for a start. For Dewpaw, this was one of her first times in the snow. She hadn't known much yet how the ice would influence her running. Dewpaw began to run, and just as she was about to slide under Seastar, she slid right underneath and through. Dewpaw had her eyes closed at the moment, slightly scared that she might hit Seastar. Dewpaw opened her eyes to find she was about a foxlength away from her leader. Embarrassed, Dewpaw sat up. "I think I may have slid too far," claimed Dewpaw.

Seastar Seastar watched as Dewpaw took a running start. Oh dear... Dewpaw possibly didn't realize that running in the snow would make her slide farther. Seastar didn't say anything, the best way to learn is to learn from your mistakes. Dewpaw ran and slid straight and fast under Seastar's legs. Her eyes were closed, her second mistake. Seastar didn't feel any paw touch her belly, her third mistake. Seastar turned and saw Dewpaw about a fox-length away, ashamed. Seastar gave a small smile. "It's alright. Try again. This time, keep your eyes open, don't run so fast and pummel my belly. I'm a strong cat, don't worry about hurting me." Seastar made herself stand her ground. Legs far apart and head low like she was expecting an attack.

Noticing that the puddles weren't water, but ice, Dewpaw stood up and tried again. She had also realized that it was bad to have closed her eyes, and began to run. Dewpaw slid a few seconds before the last time, and landed right under Seastar. Dewpaw hesitated, noticed that it probably wasn't a good idea to wait, and began to paw at Seastar's belly. Dewpaw pulled herself from underneath Seastar so her head was in sight of Seastar. "I waiting a bit too long..." answered Dewpaw. "I think I was just surprised that I got underneath though."

Seastar Seastar nodded at her apprentice's own observation. "Yes, it wasn't good to wait. You have to be quick and balanced. A misplaced paw could lead to your doom." Seastar flipped her apprentice back onto her feet and scooted her away gently. "Try it one more time, if you don't have if down by now then it's extra patrols for you!" Seastar said good-heartedly. She waited until Dewpaw started to run for her then she stood her ground, giving her apprentice a very open pummeling space.

As Dewpaw ran, she ran through the easy steps through her head: Run, slide, scratch. Dewpaw slid, and pawed at Seastar's belly. "Is that okay?" she confirmed. "Anything wrong?"
