It was FallingGaze's kits' first day out of camp, and they where heading toward the training grounds. Remembering what happened the night before with her moldy, dead, rat, CuriousKit stayed in the back of the group with her tail drooping. Luckily, in a few moons, she could find a better one, like a mouse or a bunny.
"And this is the Training Grounds. The apprentices learn all of what they know here from their mentors," explained FallingGaze.
"What does mentor mean?" questioned DarlingKit.
"A mentor is the teacher of an apprentice. They all learn from a warrior, or the deputy or leader."
"Aren't the deputy and leader warriors too?" asked TomKit.
"Yes, they just have higher rankings," answered FallingGaze.
"Who learns here?" asked CuriousKit with a squeak.
After purring, FallingGaze answered, "Everyone who comes here learns something. In fact you guys are learning right now. So far, all of the knowledge you learned today, came from here! Except you, CuriousKit."
CuriousKit hid in the shadows, but FallingGaze could tell easily that she was purring. She smiled to herself and continued with the mini-lesson. Now let me quickly get you guys some fresh kill so you guys can memorize the smell, and we can bring you back to the camp.
As soon as CuriousKit saw a mouse, she mistaken it for a rat.
"That's no rat. Rats bite you and they bring others and they bite and sometimes they can kill you!!! Mice don't though, we catch the mice, and then thank StarClan for them."
CuriousKit hid in the shadows again, this time, her tail drooped.
"Come and sniff it, you'll notice a huge different," FallingGaze told CuriousKit. "You guys sniff to okay?" she told to the other kits.
CuriousKit took a small step toward the mouse, bunny, and chaffinch. Her tail lifted a tiny bit, but you could still tell. She ran toward the food, and sniffed.
"Are you guys done sniffing?" she asked later.
"Yes, mom!" they all replied.
"Then we can bring it back to the clan and eat it. You'll all need to finish carrying the food, so you each take one."
