Sunpaw walked into the elder's den and gave the elders fresh bedding. She made sure that they had everything they needed, and even got rid of their tics. Sunpaw loved to help the elders.
"Is there anything else that you need?" asked Sunpaw to the small group of elders.
"Not to make you a medicine cat," started Ashtail with a weak voice. Ashtail had been forced to retire when he took on his last apprentice, Firepaw, Sunpaw's brother. Ashtail was attacked by a badger, while his eye-sight was failing as well. "but I'm starting to get a small cough, and it seems to be worsening. Could you get Smokeleaf?"
Sunpaw looked into Ashtail's eyes, and sensed the weakness occurring. "Of course, Ashtail. Hang on while I fetch Smokeleaf."
Sunpaw walked over to Smokeleaf's den. Hmm... thought Sunpaw. This seems different. I hope it's not bad. By the time Sunpaw had finished her thoughts, she had reached Smokeleaf's den. Sunpaw popped her head in to search for the medicine cat.
"Smokeleaf, are you there?" called Sunpaw. "Ashtail said he hasn't been feeling well, and that it gets worse every day. Can you check to make sure that he's okay?"
