Seastar Seastar had just returned from the medicine cat den. She smelled of herbs and milk. All of the questions concerning the IvyClan kit spun in her head like a whirl wind. How are we going to feed it? Will Duskwing take care of it? What if it's a trick, plotted by Duskwing and that crazed Reedtail? Should I be with kits? Everything was to confusing so Seastar settled herself down for a rough sleep. Either the ground was to hard or the moss to soft. Seastar couldn't get herself to fall asleep. Most of the time when Seastar couldn't sleep it was because something bad was going to happen. Not bad, but not good either. Cedarwing walked in with Spottedwing laying across his back. "What's this?!" Seastar said aloud. She looked at her former apprentice. She was asleep, only StarClan knows why. Spottedwing Don't Fall Unless You're Sure They're Willing to Catch You Spottedwing was set gently down in a familiar den. It smelled of frost and evergreen, the scent of the leader's den. Seastar! she shouldn't be here. Not after falling to pieces like she just did. Seastar was going to laugh at her for falling for such a stone hard cat like Rivershadow.
She slightly opened her eyes to see a curious set of eyes peering at her with concern. "Seastar..." Spottedwing tried to reason with her. She was so tired! But she forced herself to sit up, but vertigo hit her with such a rush she almost fell over. Whoa... Spottedwing shook her head and began her long speech. "I don't know how to say it." She began when Cedarwing left and returned with Rivershadow and Iceglade right on his heels.

sometimes you can't make it... A black shape snuck into the camp, paws light against the cold earth. The night had grown chilly quite quickly, and the air was awash with silence. His ears were ringing, but not with the sound as much with the shame. Cedarwing had -somehow!- found him, brought him back from his suitably uncomfortable nest under a tree, just so that --what? He was familiar with these scenes: every time he spoke his mind, someone tattled and went straight to Seastar or Cedarwing. He was forced to appologise for telling the truth, and then he was given a punishment or an instruction not to do it again. It had been more of the punishment and less of the warning lately... Mind you, most FrostClan warriors were used to his blunt attitude. Of course it would be a naive she-cat declaring her love for him that got him back here again. How had he not seen that coming.
He trailed well behind Cedarwing, the hot pulsing in his cheek a reminder of why, exactly, he hadn't confessed his undying love to a cat he barely knew. He still felt a little sick to his stomach over it all. It was like an eagle was doing barrel-rolls with his stomach in its talons, and he was getting the feel of every second. It ws simply too weird, and he'd had enough. He wanted to get into the not-talking-to-each-other stage, then the angry-glances-that-I-don't-care-about-but-you-think-I-do, and finally the I'm-only-gonna-patrol-with-you-if-you're-the-last-cat-on-this-green-earth. Sometimes the stages came in different orders: sometimes there were the weird ones who tried to pretend they'd gotten over it immediately. But Rivershadow preferred the cats who took it as it was: the ones who knew that sticks and stones never broke anyone's bones and who just carried on. They knew that he didn't mean anything by what he'd said (most of the time he didn't, at least) and let bygones be bygones faster than you could crack a flea.
Spottedwing's silent head bobbed and swayed from Cedarwing's back as he risked a glance away from his paws. The livid scowl on his face simply doubled in animosity. She-cats. He would never understand, and never wanted to. Look at her. Being gently placed on the floor of her precious mentor's den as if she'd actually been hurt. A twinge of pity thrummed in his chest, but he ignored it, going back to his default response: anger. Smouldering away behind his eyes was the simple fury at her weakness, that she'd gotten him into trouble simply by speaking his mind. 'No-one had to know!' he raged in the safety of his own head. 'No-one had to know, and judging by what you're doing now, you're going to tell her everything. And I'm going to get in trouble for not lying to you, and then Iceglade...' Hmm... Maybe Iceglade would get into trouble too. He didn't particularly want her to get into trouble -more reason for Spottedwing to hate him, and that was hard enough to handle as it was- but the stinging in his cheek did, and his wounded pride was already howling excuses, that it was her fault.
'Spottedwing... What on earth are you trying to do to me now?'
at all.
notes;; none muse;; For the drama! XD -X-

Seastar What happened between these three? Seastar glanced at Spottedwing's pleading eyes, Iceglade's scared and caring ones, and Rivershadow's harsh glares and angered eyes. She ignored the other two. "Spottedwing, what did you do?" Seastar saw the hurt in her previous apprentice's eyes. Most of the time (even if she didn't know it) the things that happened to her were her fault. Seastar recalled the time when Spottedwing (Spottedpaw at the time) through a chunk of bee's nest at a warrior. He was swollen for days. Seastar automatically accused her and was astonished at how Spottedwing jumped all over Seastar in hot anger about how she always blamed her for everything. Spottedwing I'd Do Anything For You, Even Sacrifice Myself "Spottedwing, what did you do?" Seastar accused. Spottedwing glanced at Seastar with pained, hurtful eyes. She knew in her head who made her do this, but...it wasn't all their fault. If she told Seastar what they did she would be a tattle-tail (like most cats thought she was, which she wasn't). But if she didn't...would they be nicer to her?
"Everything," Spottedwing murmured. "Me and Rivershadow got into and argument, Iceglade scratched Rivershadow but only because of me, please don't punish them! And I climbed a tree to run away, Rivershadow climbed up after me to apologize, and he did. But I overreacted. And before this I yelled at him, and I'm sorry," Spottedwing pleaded with Rivershadow. "Please, please don't punish them! If you want to punish someone punish me because I'm guilty. I'm the one who caused all of this!" Spottedwing held back all of the snide comments Rivershadow said about Seastar. If only you knew, Seastar. Spottedwing got up from her spot, why did she faint anyway? Lack of holding back emotions? Weakness? Probably the latter.
Spottedwing puffed out her chest and made herself stand strong. "I'm ready for my punishment now. Rivershadow and Iceglade did nothing." Spottedwing prayed to StarClan that it would be a fair punishment. Seastar wouldn't take her lightly.

Cedarwing Cedarwing stared in astonishment at Spottedwing. That was what all of this was about? A stupid arguement between three ignorant cats? Cedarwing felt annoyance course through him. This is what kept me from my nice, warm nest in the warriors den?! I feel cheated! I wouldn't have helped if I knew it was something as stupid as that! Then why on earth did spottedwing faint- you know what, I don't care. I don't care a bit. I am giong to bed. "Seastar, I didn't know that it was an argument between the three of them. Had I known, I would have taken care of it myself. And now, I will, if you would like." A dumb argument. Seriously? And now I have to be the queen to three naughty little kits. I swear, do warriors not teach their apprentices to grow up? Maybe we should have apprentices train for a whole year instead of half. Then maybe they would learn to act like proper warriors! Cedarwing shook his head and waited for his leader's reply, still annoyed and terribly tired. He had half a mind to sidestep his leader's permission and go ahead and punish the three, but didn't. He wouldn't lower himself to their level of incompetence.
OOC: I had something I wanted to talk about from Cedarwing's POV, but then i saw skittles, (taste the rainbow), and then i couldn't remember, and i think I have ADD, and LOOK A FLUFFY DOG!

[glow=Teal,2,300]ICEGLADE[/glow] .:I Believe in What I see, Not the Other Way Around:. She was mad! Why was she here? This was so mousebrained -why in StarClan's sake did she get herself mixed up in this mess? Why?
Spottedwing. That was why, no other reason. She was known for her nasty temper, and sometimes wild attitude, and for that, most cats stayed away from her; they never gave her a chance, her problem was that she usually saw all the bad things in cats -their lack of knowledge, their weak sense of comfort, and yadda yadda yadda. It made her despise them. Her only two friends were Spottedwing and Duskwing. She shook her head angrily, she was only there to protect Spottedwing -andtogetagoodscooponlovestoriesintheclan; but that didn't matter. Rivershadow was just plain sick! How dare she treat her friend like that; but her friend didn't care that she had tried to defend her -oh, no! It just screwed up her chances! Well you know what! I'm sorry, Spottedwing, she almost meowed aloud, I'm sorry, that I-I was there to protect you, to try to make you feel better, to comfort you and defend you from that-that creep! b-but I guess you're too much of a mousebrained fool to see that. Her body shook from anger and grief. It always happens, She cursed, I try to help someone and the blame is on me! The tears stood in her eyes, no, never again, never....
Her eyes were wild, the cats swirled before her. She vaguely heard Spottedwing, pleading helplessly with Seastar: "Me and Rivershadow got into and argument, Iceglade scratched Rivershadow but only because of me, please don't punish them! And I climbed a tree to run away, Rivershadow climbed up after me to apologize, and he did. But I overreacted. And before this I yelled at him, and I'm sorry. Please, please don't punish them! If you want to punish someone punish me because I'm guilty. I'm the one who caused all of this!"
Please, please don't punish them!
......them. them. them. What!? Are you crazy, she shouted out in her mind, Are you so immersed with him, that you can't even remember the snide, lowly played remarks he made about Seastar? Why do you even bother to hide them? And it shouldn't only be her punished, but she should be punished too! She -Iceglade! No, no, no! This was all wrong! She was angry at Rivershadow, angry at Spottedwing -aw for StarClan's pity, she was angry with Seastar! It was like she was plunged into a pool of demented water, and she could only see things hazily, and only the outer layer, but when you got closer, you could see everything!
"Seastar, I didn't know that it was an argument between the three of them. Had I known, I would have taken care of it myself. And now, I will, if you would like." Her head snapped toward the speaker, and her eyes narrowed. His face told it all, this was just too little of a problem for the Great Cederwing to deal with, no, because he was so great, he should be sleeping in a nice cozy den, dreaming about mice and other critters he would be capturing in the future to make his clan proud.
Well, if you want to make you clan proud, and be useful, get the heck out of here, do what you want! I don't give a rat's nests! Her eyes said it all.
It was her own world, she just stood there, shakily, breathing deeply, using all her strength to just stay put and say nothing. One more word toward her -and she was gonna blow.

Seastar Seastar listened to her former apprentice's story. "Please, please don't punish them! If you want to punish someone punish me because I'm guilty. I'm the one who caused all of this!" Spottedwing pleaded. Shock flashed on Seastar's face. Spottedwing is taking the blame?! Have hedgehogs learned to fly! I haven't seen one fly yet, so why is Spottedwing taking the blame? My how she's grown. Cedarwing came in and stated how he should've taken care of it first, but Seastar was intrigued. "No. I'll take care of it," Seastar stated calmly. She flickered her gaze from the tom to the two she-cats. "Spottedwing," Seastar began. Spottedwing held her head low, awaiting her daunting punishment. "You will check the elders for ticks and clean out their dens, along with all of your warrior duties." Seastar noticed the glowers that Spottedwing was receiving from Iceglade and Rivershadow, and Seastar didn't appreciate it. "If you two had any respect for your clan mate you should be thanking her for taking the blame." She said harshly. She saw them flinch at her words, the truth of them was unfolding. "I'd bet ten-to-one you wouldn't do that for her. Neither of you." Seastar flicked her tail for them to leave. I hope this is all going to settle down. I'm tired of drama.Spottedwing Why do others hate me? Oh right, I can't keep my mouth shut. Spottedwing received her punishment with her head low. Yes, Seastar. She said to herself. "If you two had any respect for your clan mate you should be thanking her for taking the blame." Spottedwing's head snapped up to get a better gaze at her leader. Was...Seastar...defending her? A gasp almost escaped her lips. She hadn't noticed her comrades glowering at her until Seastar had said something. Iceglade was just mad about Spottedwing not telling Seastar about the implication of snide comments coming from Rivershadow's mouth. But Spottedwing also didn't tell Seastar about Iceglade scratching Rivershadow from lack of anger-control. She'd said that she scratched him for Spottedwing, she hoped Iceglade would be less mad at her.

Rivershadow glared openly at the back of Spottedwing's head. What did Spottedwing do? Good question. If he'd been inclined to open his mouth, the grey tom would have snapped some vicious comment --as it was, he could imagine the expression on Spottedwing's face. It would be an expression of the utmost pride, a dignity crushed by the doings of some callous-hearted tom, and she would plead her case, and then it would be over with. It was getting late, dark, and he wanted to sleep. He could face Spottedwing in the morning.
"Me and Rivershadow got into an argument, Iceglade scratched Rivershadow but only because of me, please don't punish them! And I climbed a tree to run away, Rivershadow climbed up after me to apologize, and he did. But I overreacted. And before this I yelled at him, and I'm sorry."
Rivershadow's eyes flew open in surprise. He hadn't been expecting that, least of all from the she-cat who he'd assumed now hated his guts. He didn't expect Seastar not to punish them, but that Spottedwing was willing to take the blame for them.. Something twisted unpleasantly in his stomach. "I'm ready for my punishment now. Rivershadow and Iceglade did nothing." Rivershadow flinched. It was never good watching others take the blame, and in a weird way, he'd sort of been looking forward to shouldering whatever punishment Seastar gave. And yet, why should he take any blame when he hadn't done anything wrong? Well, he'd said some things that he'd regretted: but he'd climbed a tree to apologise for himself, in spite of Spottedwing fleeing from him. And he might have left her on that branch, but... sickness flooded him again, and he took the tiniest of steps away from the two she-cats. 'Love' still felt like an alien concept.
"You will check the elders for ticks and clean out their dens, along with all of your warrior duties."
Spottedwing's punishment was dealt with, and Rivershadow's face remained impassive. It wasn't the get-off-the-hook kind of punishment that he'd expected of Seastar. He thought she'd -'I dunno'- given Spottedwing a cushy little job, like helping Smokeleaf. Although anything involving the crusty old she-cat didn't even come close to 'cushy'. And from the sounds of it, Spottedwing only had to deal with the elders once. From the time -it was well and truly dark now, and Seastar's den far darker than the camp- it would be a morning job, when the elders were at their most crotchety... No-one envied that kind of punishment. Even though once was far better than a moon of such work.
"If you two had any respect for your clan mate you should be thanking her for taking the blame. I'd bet ten-to-one you wouldn't do that for her. Neither of you." Rivershadow tried to keep his face impassive, but anger still clawed its way around the depths of his eyes. Respect? This wasn't about respect: it was taking responsibility for your own actions, the sort of thing punishment was supposed to teach you to do or some rot. And Rivershadow had gotten into trouble enough to not need reliving the experience. Then Seastar waved her tail for them to go, and a thought struck the tom as hard as a falling tree. 'What was Iceglade getting for this?!' Seastar knew that Spottedwing was taking the blame for them: she'd said as much. So why were Rivershadow and Iceglade getting off the hook? Why, in fact, was Spottedwing getting punished at all? Spottedwing had outright said that Iceglade had scratched him. The sickness in his stomach emptied, leaving a great, collapsing hole. Iceglade wasn't going to be punished for clawing him, but Spottedwing was getting elder duty for saying a few things that she hadn't meant? This was not fair.
And yet... speaking out would mean speaking up against Seastar.
He'd never done that. Not once.
But he had to, didn't he? He had to, or else Spottedwing would hate him forever and --heated hollyhocks, he still didn't understand why he was trying so hard to get Spottedwing to not hate him, when clearly it was the only thing that she wanted out of talking with him. But he had to try... probably. He cleared his throat quietly, shaking the leathery feeling out of his tongue. Silent for so long, trying to speak... He didn't want to muck this up, though that seemed a theme when sleep-deprived and within one hundred fox-lengths of Spottedwing. "This isn't fair." the tom muttered, trying out the words on his tongue, eyes firmly fixed to the floor. "Seastar... why torment just one of us when more will do?" The familiar spark of the argument, the trying to get a rise out of someone, the push for dominance, had begun to flicker in his eyes. "It's not just Spottedwing's fault. I... I said some stupid stuff." He was looking her in the eye now, tail slowly waving, awaiting her response. He couldn't stop to think now, or he'd go back on what he'd just said. "And I'm hoping Spottedwing wouldn't mind the company in the elders' den."
notes;; OK, I don't mind what happens here. Rivershadow was going to stay quiet and then insist on helping Spottedwing with the elders the next day, but I told him no and re-wrote the post XP.

Oakpelt
Seastar heard Rivershadow mumble, "This isn't fair. Seastar... why torment just one of us when more will do?" He argued. Speaking out of turn...brave. Seastar wondered why Rivershadow was arguing against her will. He'd never done that before. Was there some...protection in his eyes as he asked to help Spottedwing clean out the elder's den? No...not protection but...something that Seastar couldn't quite figure out. Why was he doing this though? As far as Seastar was concerned, Rivershadow should hate Spottedwing because she argued with him and her friend scratched him. But it wasn't the case with these two. "I suppose. Spottedwing be sure to thank him. It's going to be a long and aggravating morning tomorrow. The frost is starting to move in so you may have some aching elders to listen to and fetch them herbs." She shook her head clearing away thoughts that did not belong there. "Go get something to eat then rest." She flicked her tail for them to leave and settled herself in for the night. Spottedwing Surprised? Yes. Scared For The Morning? Of Course. Spottedwing gawked at Rivershadow. He's going to help me? He offered first?! Seastar didn't have to make him?! The thought of Rivershadow volunteering to do this was surprising. Spottedwing thought that he hated her. She thought her unrequited declaration of love had sent him running away. She could feel the agitated emotions of the pelt circling her. Goldenheart... She was agitated at Rivershadow for being the blind male who was running from love. Just like he did with her... Her golden pelt circled Spottedwing, making herself the eye of the storm. Calm and collected. But inside was a roiling storm wanting to burst out. Emotions of joy, fear, love, despair, all forming one massive emotion. The joy of keeping her friends out of trouble. The fear of tomorrow's talk she would have with Rivershadow. Love for her friends. Despair at his knowing answers that he would give her to her questions. Seastar allowed him to help her and that was that. She flicked her tail for them to leave and she did. She got a small mouse, not very hungry to eat anything bigger, ate that, and when to her cozy nest in the warriors den. Awaiting tomorrow's happenings.
