Mudpelt noticed that it had been 14 moons since his sister had died at birth, and when his father ran away. He decided to sit alone tonight-nothing new but only honoring his sister, and maybe his father. He might not even be alive anymore... The only thing he can remember of his father was a proud muscular black cat, like himself, only without the speckles-if it was his father.
So, Mudpelt wandered over where a single stick lay. He picked it up in his mouth, and tossed it aside. He curled up and stared into Silverpelt, hoping something good would happen. Suddenly, he smelt another cat behind him. Of course! Just when I want silence! But when Mudpelt turned around in anger, nothing but the breeze stood between him, and his stick. For a second, he had wished someone had been there.
Maybe I don't have to be so far away. thought Mudpelt. He stood up and curled up about two foxlengths away from another cat, and once again, stared into Silverpelt. This time, he was certain a cat had approached him. He turned around to see who it was...
He glared at whoever it was that approached him. Whoever would want to talk to him? Especially when he was honoring his parents and sister. Having someone near did feel nice to know that if something were to happen, that they would be there. However, Mudpelt didn't know how it felt having others around. He had been alone ever since his family had passed away. He didn't remember how it felt to have company.
"Hello," spoke the cat from behind Mudpelt's back.
