Owlfeather was setting down, waiting for Windpaw. His lesson today would be enticing, and he was ready to get started. His tail matched the rhythm of his heart, and his ears were pricked. He knew what Windpaw thought of him...and he was about to be proven wrong.

WINDPAW
Windpaw reluctantly padded over to Owlfeather. He had a moment's thought that what Owlfeather told him was "new" would be very boring. He stuck with this thought and gave Owlfeather an expression that said; "Okay, I'm here. What do you want?"

Owlfeather saw the smug in Windpaw. He smiled grimly, and then stood up, shaking the sand from his fur. 'Let's get started". First, he looked at the tom, and then said "Watch" Owlfeather dipped under Windpaw, and then twisted a little above the ground, and then made it to where his claws were barely off of his face. "That's a twist and claw" he said, and then narrowed his eyes.

WINDPAW
Windpaw stared at the move. It created a loss of balance, even if it lasted only a short second. Still, if Windpaw was in a real fight, he'd have used it and attacked. But he copied the move after one unsuccessful try (he was distracted by a robin's shriek) and one easy completion, but adding his own spinoff to it, creating a permanent stability throughout the move. "Next," Windpaw said unenthusiastically.

Owlfeather watched him. And for a second, he purred. He saw Windpaw's blankness, and he sighed. It was impossible to impress him. Owlfeather looked at him, and then licked his lips. "Okay, watch this". Owlfeather leaped at him, but then leaped back as Windpaw moved forward, putting Windpaw directly in his path. Owlfeather pounced, and gently grabbed his scruff, twisting to where Windpaw couldn't move. Then he flipped over, to where Owlfeather was twisting Windpaw into an impossible position. Maybee... he thought.

WINDPAW
Windpaw stared in utter amazement as Owlfeather completed the move. All he could utter was, "Nice one!" He had five failed attempts before he finally copied the move exactly on Owlfeather, and smiled at his success. SnakeClan would never match up to this. And that puny, scarred Falconpaw, who had somehow beaten him last time, would never get him now! Newfound respect for his mentor flooded through him like a river in newleaf. He beamed up at Owlfeather as he copied the move once more on an invisible opponent.

Owlfeather couldn't help the little tickles of excitement that lightninged through his pelt. Owlfeather controlled his self again and then nodded. "Windpaw, try that move on me" je instructed, getting ready.

WINDPAW
Windpaw obeyed his command, going over the move again and again in his mind. He executed the move exactly, and when he rolled over, added a slight back claw twist to it to keep his balance. "That was awesome!" Windpaw cheered, feeling what it was like to be a kit again, before Tigerstar and Hawkfrost robbed him of his childhood. Tigerstar then appeared before him, telling him, "You aren't a kit anymore, Windpaw. You must use this move to better yourself." "Yes Tigerstar. I know." Windpaw silently uttered. 'No more fun ever, I guess....' Windpaw thought, 'Well...maybe now, to impress Owlfeather.' He continued beaming up at him and copying the move on what became his invisible opponent.

Owlfeather beamed down at Windpaw. He saw Windpaw stiffen for a moment, and Owlfeather quirked. "What's he doing?" Owlfeather looked at Windpaw again, and he had begun practicing the move again. "Windp-" he stopped. His apprentice barely trusted him. Why would he ask him that. He cursed himself, and then looked back at Windpaw. "Nice addition" he commented, his tail tapping the ground.

WINDPAW
Windpaw heard Owlfeather say something, and he realized that he had shown his connection to Tigerstar for a moment by stiffening himself. Owlfeather gave up on asking and then said "Nice addition." Windpaw continued to smile and practice his newly learned move, and commented politely, (why he was being polite he knew not) "Thanks."

Owlfeather lifted an eyebrow, and murmured "Welcome". Something was going on with Windpaw, and he was destined to find out.

WINDPAW
Windpaw knew that Owlfeather was beginning to realize his secret. "He can never know," Tigerstar ominously mumbled. Windpaw understood, and nodded in silent approval.

Owlfeather kept one eye on Windpaw, seeing him nod and everything. He slowly licked his lower lip, and then brought it into his mouth, thinking about the possibilities. What could be going on? Did Windpaw have something wrong with him?

WINDPAW
Windpaw was growing impatient. Tigerstar had left, leaving him and Owlfeather alone in the clearing. "What's next?" Windpaw asked hopefully, thinking that maybe a new move would distract Owlfeather from his secret.
