Owlfeather looked at the ant, struggling with the load of whatever it was it had. He let out a low, drawn-out sigh and wrapped his tail around his dark paws. Being bored was pretty..well, it was just that. Boring. He got up and swished his tail as he walked back and forth, pacing the edge of the warriors den with anxiousness. Fall was here, and the scent of leaf mold infused with the faint scent of SnakeClan hit his nostrils.
Owlfeather was wishing that Windpaw was there to train with. The battle moves would come in handy. Winter was right around the corner, and the Clans would start ruffling each other's fur over single thrush's. Owlfeather stiffened when he heard a rustling in tree near the dens. He narrowed his eyes and then snorted when a rabbit hopped out. Wow, why would it come so close to the Clan? he wondered, narrowing his eyes in thought. Owlfeather unsheathed his claws and headed towards it.

WINDPAW
Windpaw hurriedly padded over to Owlfeather. He was going to lose his tail for being late! But he knew that the meeting he had had with Eveningpaw was important in its own way. He noticed Owlfeather had a rabbit in his jaws. "Erm, sorry I'm late, Owlfeather." He stammered, rapidly coming up with a lie to explain why he was late. "Silentstar sent me on border patrol." He hoped Owlfeather would believe his lie.

Owlfeather wasn't stupid. He knew that by the way the apprentice stood, and his nervousness flickering across his face. His apprentice was lying, but he didn't even twitch to suggest it. "Well, it's fine. Silentstar can discuss this with me later" he said, standing up and taking the rabbit to the fresh-kill pile. He popped his neck bones, and stretched. "Today we're going to start battle training" Owlfeather told Windpaw, walking quietly towards the entrance. Windpaw would make an amazing apprentice, if he could learn to be honest.
Just because he was late, he didn't have to lie. All he had to say was "Hey, ya know. I was late, it won't happen again". And that would be that. Owlfeather would let him be. 'Are you ready?

WINDPAW
Windpaw sighed. Owlfeather didn't believe him. "Yes. I'm ready." Windpaw spoke. Next time would be better. He'd say something at least close to the truth.

"Good. He nodded to his apprentice, seeing the guiltiness flooding over Windpaw. "It's alright Windpaw, just tell me next time" he sighed, flicking his tail and standing up. "Alright, the first thing you're going to learn is the pounce and grab..watch me" Owlfeather lowered himself to the ground and jumped, twisting and landing on Windpaw's back lightly, jumping off. "Just jump, and then grab their scruff with your teeth" He instructed.

WINDPAW
Windpaw sighed. He imitated the easy move, snagging Owlfeather's scruff lightly. Easier than catching a limp mouse.

Owlfeather was a tad bit annoyed at the fact that his apprentice was passing this as nothing really. Well, the fine line between annoyed and proud was blurred as he couldn't help but smile. Windpaw was an excellent fighter, and his quick thinking was helping. Him lying was something, but also suggesting that he was a quick thinker. Lying is horrid, but the skills used to possess the qualities of a good liar would come in handy to fighting.
"Windpaw, show me what ya' got" Owlfeather challenged, lashing his tail and swiping his tongue around his jaws.

WINDPAW
Windpaw almost snickered. This was even easier! He fake attacked and Owlfeather foolishly snagged him by the neck, an just when he loosened a bit, Windpaw whipped his legs around and put Owlfeather off-balance. He then put his jaws around his neck, but also positioned himself so that Owlfeather could not do the same. A move of his own creation. And it went perfectly. Windpaw removed his jaws from Owlfeather's neck and slyly stated, "Gotcha."

Owlfeather saw what the tom was doing, it took him about 1.3 seconds to flip himself frontwards, blocking the apprentice from his neck and then leaping on top of him, his claws sheathed of course, and then took Windpaw's scruff in his neck, making it impossible for the tom to move. "That's how you do it" he hissed in his ear playfully, getting off and then licking his paw, drawing it over his ear.

WINDPAW
"That was a great blow," Windpaw calmly stated. Owlfeather had countered his own created blow and turned it into his own move! "I have much to learn from you."

Owlfeather dipped his head to Windpaw, "Well, we can also learn from each other..it is going to be my honor to teach you" he said, and then shook his fur, loose twigs and leaves shaking free and falling to the ground. "How bout gettin' somethin' to eat? he asked, looking at the rabbit and sparrow lying on the top of the pile. [/size

WINDPAW
"Good idea. Eating will make us stronger." Windpaw said strategically. "And Owlfeather? Do you think that there will be a war?" Windpaw cleverly made his question appear innocent, when instead he planned on making himself even stronger in preparation. He'd need to be prepared if war was declared.

Owlfeather bit his lip and then let out a long, draw-out sigh. "Windpaw, I'm not really sure about a war right now, I know that because of Winter coming our way, there will be some..arguments" he said, and then started to devour the rabbit. "But I also know that you need not to focus so much on war, and fighting, because the cat that fights to death is going to be remembered as the on who started the war.." he said, chewing thoughtfully. Windpaw had brought up some good points.

WINDPAW
"Yes, right." Windpaw stated as he bit into a robin. Tasty, but too many feathers. He preferred less feathered things, such as vole or mouse. But it was food all the same. He sniggered. Dammit, this wasn't the answer he wanted! He needed a yes or a no! If there was a war, he'd have to be ready. Curse StarClan for not saying anything, not even a prophecy. Curse Silentstar for not starting the war already. Curse everyone in IvyClan for being so damned light-hearted and not starting themselves! But he dared not say this aloud. Silentstar'd have his tail!

Owlfeather could tell that his apprentice didn't like the answer. His lashing tail, and eyes gave it away immediately. He narrowed his eyes and thought. Was his apprentice that war hungry?
