Ravenslash [/b] Ravenslash padded on, determined to find the root of this problem. He looked up and down the waterside bank, looking for any sign. Nothing passed as unusual under the tom's ice blue gaze. He continued on, until he scented something....off. It started off weak, but it grew stronger and smellier. He wrinkled his nose in disgust as he came to the source. What came into sight disgusted him beyond belief.
Six carcasses, the size of prey, floated in the stream, unrecognizable by this point. They floated in the stream, caught in different places so they wouldn't float away. This is what had poisoned everyone! the water here was tainted! and, as he inspected the scene further, they were placed there too perfectly. Someone else had to have placed them there, and he could only guess who did. Ravenslash bared his teeth, and ran back to camp, to report his findings to Seastar.
Ravenslash arrived back to camp, out of breath, but still running towards the medicine den. His entrance was less then graceful. He skidded to stop himself, almost running over Asheart's tail, and coming very close to slamming into Seatar's face.
"Smokeleaf!" he managed to meow between heaves. "I know what has poisoned these cats!" He suddenly felt the same feeling as everyone else. Not as strong, because he had consumed less then any of these other, but there still. "It's the main stream," he explained quickly, tripping over words. "There are six pieces of crow-food in our stream, poisoning the water. they are in places where they can't float away. And, they are placed just where they won't be swept away, and stay poisoning the water. And, I can guess which Clan cats have done this to us."

Seastar "Those flea-bitten fur balls!" Seastar cursed. Her tail lashed back and forth. She had already hacked up her morning breakfast and felt better. Still weak, but a little bit better. "Ravenslash, come to me den." Seastar ate the strengthening herbs and headed toward her den. The lean-well muscled warrior followed her in. She settled down wrapping her tail over her paws neatly. "Ravenslash. Since you have found this crow-food poisoning you can take two other warriors and clear up this mess. And since you had found it, what do you propose we do about those fox hearted warriors?"

As Ashheart responded to her touch and woke, the dull-grey she-cat removed her paws and shoved the yarrow bundle towards the young warrior. She couldn't help but offer a faint, sardonic smile at the warrior's reaction to her awakening. Unlike Smokeleaf's brother, who shared the prefix, there was fire in this cat. She'd fight, even if the yarrow took most of that fire out of her. A good, strong cat: FrostClan could use more like her. But was yarrow the right option? Smokeleaf began to doubt herself: Ashheart was clearly weak --in body, if certainly not in spirit. Forcing her to vomit under these circumstances might do more harm than good. She knew that she hadn't hesitated with Cedarwing, but he was strong and hadn't suffered much yet. But she pushed the herbs forward anyway, trying to keep the wet-faced she-cat awake. StarClan's claws, but she looked a sight.
Recovery was swift. "Yarrow," the medicine cat meowed, nodding to the bundle she'd shoved forward and the bitter scent of the leaves. "Take it outside before eating it..." the older cat paused, furrowing her brow. Ashheart wasn't in a good way: all the more reason not to move her. But she resolved herself, forcing some surety into her thoughts. Better far to get all the poison out: even if there was nothing there, vomiting (while a drain on the physical) might also help her feel cleaned. She'd noticed that strange effect during a small outbreak of stomach-sickness when she'd trained under Pebbleleaf. But her pause was only a split second before she continued. "Then get back here and you can have the second bundle, and you'll sleep."
It took Ravenslash's reappearance to make the she-cat realise that Cedarwing had come back into the camp, and she was about to close her mouth and return to instructing Ashheart when Ravenslash began to spill the beans. "It's the main stream," she heard, before shaking her head to clear it and giving Ravenslash her full attention. "There are six pieces of crow-food in our stream, poisoning the water. They are in places where they can't float away. And, they are placed just where they won't be swept away, and stay poisoning the water. And, I can guess which Clan cats have done this to us." Smokeleaf hissed viciously, whipping around and raking her claws into the soft earth of the camp. 'Damn them!' Only one leader had reason. Only one leader. One stupid leader.
Silentstar could have been the better cat: he could've just taken his victory and held it over their heads for while, or he could have waited until leaf-bare and claimed extra hunting rights. But no. That meddling, stupid kit who called himself leader had gone one step too far. It might have been Seastar's fault for taunting him, but what Silentstar had done (had tried to do) was unforgivable. He was a coward: a coward and a murdering rat. It was Spottedwing who'd lost her temper and thrown away their chance of smoothing over this mess when she attacked that IvyClan wretch. Whoever that she-cat was, she... Smokeleaf paused mid-thought. She couldn't have died. That was the only reason she could think of that Silentstar would have done such a thing... But that was impossible! That Stormleaf had been fresh into the medicine cat's shoes, but surely he wasn't that incompetent? She'd left the wound clean and clotting over... "Foxdung!" she cursed, unable to contain her fury. Oh, she could understand play-fighting: she could understand border fights and the occasional squabble during Gatherings. What she couldn't understand was murder. Did Silentstar think that he could just throw away cats' lives with no regard for their loved ones, for their clan, for the warrior code?! That was the road taken by Shatteredstar. That was the road to ruin.

Ashheart
Ashheart nodded to Smokeleaf to show the medicine cat that she understood. "I'll...be..right back," she gasped out. The warrior carefully picked up the yarrow in her slavering jaws, then padded over to the the camp's borders, struggling every step of the way. She swallowed, dreading the thought of swallowing the bitter herb. "Ah, well," she grumbled. "It can't get any worse." Ashheart ate the yarrow and almost immediately started heaving. Feeling a bit better, the sick cat trudged back to the medicine cat den. She swallowed the second bundle without a second of hesitation. She wanted this ordeal to be over as soon as possible. Her last thought before slipping into sleep was that if anycat died of the poisoning, IvyClan would pay in blood; preferably Silentstar's...

Ravenslash [/b] Ravenslash unsheathed his claws, and snarled,"I would've challenged Silentstar in his camp myself, except there's no real evidence that IvyClan committed this crime. Only logic proves it, but even logic is not foolproof." He narrowed his ice blue eyes, and meowed grimly to himself,"This act was cowardly, but very smart. They even covered up their scents."
Ravenslash looked around in horror at all his sick clanmates. They were surviving, only because of the skills of their great medicine cat. He clenched over suddenly, his black fur trembling. "Smokeleaf, I need yarrow, quick!" he grunted through gritted teeth.

Ashheart
Ashheart stirred sleepily, as if awaking from a deep sleep, as a voice seemed to whisper into her ear. She got to her paws, surprised at how refreshed she felt. Surprised that she had woken up at all. She stretched, her supple muscles rippling underneath her dark-flecked pelt, then looked around. The other sick cats seemed to be recovering or already recovered. Ravenslash wasn't looking very happy, but he had drunken the poisoned water more recently. She was sure he'd be fine. Ashheart glanced up at the sky, then blinked. The moon was in the stage that followed the full moon. She had slept throught the Gathering! She wondered how Silentstar had taken the accusation. Probably not very well.
